Your grandparents had it, your parents had it and now it’s your turn to live with this pain. This is simply not the case today. To be able to receive excellent arthritis treatment without setting aside a full day makes relieving your pain much more simple.

Arthritis is an inflammation within a joint that causes pain and stiffness, often worsening with age. Providers at KY Pain Institute & Spurlock Chiropractic Centre are trained in several methods of arthritis treatment. The major joints treated for arthritis at our facility include the spine, hip, the knee and the shoulder, commonly referred to as osteoarthritis:

  • Osteoarthritis of the hip, also known as degenerative joint disease, results from the breakdown of cartilage in the hip joint.  Steroid injections into the hip joint are an arthritis treatment that works to reduce the inflammation causing your pain and swelling.
  • Osteoarthritis of the knee is often treated with steroid injections and tends to bring our patients dramatic relief from pain and swelling. We have several methods for guiding our doctors as they inject this relieving medication, including fluoroscopic guidance and ultrasound guidance. Viscosupplementation treatment for knee arthritis injects hyaluronic acid, a thick gel-like substance, into your knee joint, replenishing the lost fluid that has caused the bones of the knee to rub together.
  • Osteoarthritis of the shoulder, also called degenerative joint disease, can result from aging, but it can also set in after traumatic injury to the shoulder. Sometimes osteoarthritis of the shoulder results from having worked in a job that caused stress to the shoulder.  This breakdown of cartilage is both painful and restrictive with loss of motion in the shoulder. Arthritis treatment of the shoulder may include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications and corticosteroid injections.

Patient Reviews

Through manipulation, stimulation, traction, exercise, muscle shots and epidurals, in a short period of time, I went from only being able to stand for an hour at a time to being able to work a full day. This is a much better alternative than medications and I am truly grateful for the fast, friendly and professional service I have been given.
