Spinal Manipulation

One of the most common conditions we see among our patients at Kentucky Pain Institute and Spurlock Chiropractic Centre is back pain. In fact, back pain is such a common experience that about 80% of all adults suffer back pain at some point in their lives. It is a major cause of job-related disability and missed work days. One recent survey found that over 25% of adults report having experienced low back pain within the last three months.

At Kentucky Pain Institute and Spurlock Chiropractic Centre, we are committed to helping our patients restore function back into their lives, minus the misery of back pain. For many of our patients, a chiropractic approach to managing their pain is the most effective path to relief. We have acquired an excellent reputation for respectful patient care, focusing first on listening to our patients.  We want you to describe what you are feeling and a timeline for how long you have been experiencing this.

The chiropractors at our facility have strong expertise in accurately diagnosing and delivering appropriate treatment. Whether you are suffering back or neck pain, shoulder pain, whiplash-associated pain or headaches, the dysfunctional portion of your spine may be treated through spinal manipulation. The use of spinal manipulation has been practiced for many years, restoring the spine’s structural integrity, reducing joint inflammation and reducing pain.  Spinal manipulation is the application of pressure in order to restore biomechanical function and structural correction. With reduced pressure on joints and reduced inflammation, patients may experience improved nerve function, increased range of motion, less muscle tension and restored or enhanced joint function.

Spinal manipulation typically involves manual or mechanical application of thrusts of different strengths on the various anatomical locations of the spine. The most common thrust used by chiropractors is the High-Velocity Low-Amplitude thrust. Patients may hear a “pop” when we apply this controlled sudden force to a joint. Just as in more active exercise, spinal manipulation promotes the release of endorphins which serve to naturally reduce pain.

At Kentucky Pain Institute and Spurlock Chiropractic Centre, our experienced providers are well aware of the serious issues triggered by inappropriate use of opioids and other forms of pain medication and work conscientiously to relieve pain without subjecting our patients to the risks of addiction. We are trained to identify the cause of your pain and treat accordingly rather than jump to prescribing pain medication for you. Rather than trade your pain problems for addiction problems, we are here to find a healthy solution for you.

Patient Reviews

Through manipulation, stimulation, traction, exercise, muscle shots and epidurals, in a short period of time, I went from only being able to stand for an hour at a time to being able to work a full day. This is a much better alternative than medications and I am truly grateful for the fast, friendly and professional service I have been given.
